Juicy steak, crisp greens and plenty of flavour - this is the kind of sandwich Dad deserves this Father’s Day. Finished with Tasteology BBQ Sauce, it’s smoky, savoury and made for a seriously satisfying bite.
Ingredients
-
1 tbsp TASTEOLOGY Smoky BBQ Rub
-
1 tbsp TASTEOLOGY Extra Virgin Olive Oil
-
1 tbsp TASTEOLOGY Dark Ale BBQ Sauce
-
TASTEOLOGY Salt & Pepper (to taste)
-
250-300G porterhouse steak
-
1 tomato
-
½ cup rocket
-
3 slices of cheddar
-
1 onion
-
¼ cup flour
-
½ cup vegetable oil or olive oil for fried onions
-
1-2 tbsp aioli
-
½ a focaccia loaf, or 2 focaccia rolls
Directions
Allow your steak to reach room temperature prior to cooking.
Slice your tomato and set aside with your rocket and cheese.
Season your steak with Tasteology Smoky BBQ Rub, set aside.
In a small pan, heat up your oil of choice to 180C.
Finely slice your onion and coat with flour, add the onion to the hot oil and fry until golden, set aside on paper towel and lightly season with Tasteology salt & pepper.
Heat up a larger pan, once it is hot, drizzle with Tasteology Olive Oil, add your steak, cook for 3 minutes on one side and 2 on the other for medium rare. Set aside and let it rest.
While your steak is resting, drizzle Tasteology Olive Oil onto your bread, using the same pan grill your bread until golden.
Assemble your sando as you please - we’ve gone aioli, rocket tomato, steak, a solid drizzle of Tasteology Dark Ale BBQ Sauce, followed by onion rings and cheddar cheese.
